Synopsis Of A Weather Watcher Shines Bright Red Above...
KTTCââ¬â¢s weather watcher shines bright red above Minneapolis/ Saint Paulââ¬â¢s skyline. Warmer weather is on its way. The mid-afternoon news report confirms it. It is hot. Scorching hot. Temperatures were already in the 90s and expected to climb. Tonight those lucky enough to afford air-conditioning will ramp it up and seek peace in cooler conditions. Bud, a 70 year-old veteran of the Marine Corps, isnââ¬â¢t so lucky. He does not have air-conditioning. Instead, two strategically placed ceiling fans cool his 2nd story walk up. One creeks back and forth in the dining room while the other whirs in his bedroom. They do little to stymie the heat, however, along with an open window, the miniscule breeze circulating through the apartment is better thanâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Today and every day since a drunken driver t-boned her vehicle in the middle of an intersection Molly has issues getting to work. If she calls in sick today, she loses her job. It would be her 3rd lost job in 9 months. Losing yet another job, means that she and her husband would not be able to pay their rent. Not being able to afford rent means tonight she and her husband will have another fight. Though their experiences are vastly different, Bud and Molly are two very text book examples of people living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). They are also two representative examples of people who have the potential to come into contact with a police officer or another emergency response team during a crisis. An officer or 1st responder may respond to a simple welfare check for an elderly veteran, or the officer maybe called to intervene in a more complex case of situational domestic violence. While clinicians and therapists have made strides in mental health crises, little has been done to get evidence base practices and techniques (EBP/ EBT) into the hands of those who need it the mostââ¬âthose on the front line, the police and emergency responders. Michael Nerheim, a Stateââ¬â¢s Attorney from Lake County, Illinois, told the Chicago Tribune, ââ¬Å"If officerââ¬â¢s arenââ¬â¢t properly trained they could mistake something thatââ¬â¢s really a mental illness for aggression or non-complianceâ⬠(Olsen, 2016). E-Commerce Shift Towards Personalization, Dynamic Pricing,...
Over the last few years the rapid expansion of the internet has lead to many technological, business and social shift. Examples of such shifts are the increased demand for greater internet bandwidth, the movement from physical shops to online shops and the social acceptance and trust in using the internet for financial transactions. As the internet and E-Commerce become more integrated into our lives they continuingly drive changes in how we work and live as mentioned above. The future of E-Commerce promises to bring further changes in our lives as the internet continues to expand and it is these possible future shifts which I will discuss in further detail. The first shift which is already being implemented is the increasedâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The customisation features mentioned above are only the beginning of the personalisation movement, as user monitoring technologies continue to progress, websites will have much greater access to information and be able to use this information in more productive ways. One example is Digital Rights Management (DRM) which was initially developed to prevent copyright infringement, however more advanced forms of DRM can now be used to gather digital media usage data which is used to develop preference profiles and implement price discrimination (Inderscience, November 2008). The information gathered via such new technologies would allow websites to develop adverts that are designed to appeal to each individual consumer and promote products and services the customer has the greatest interest in. Looking further into the future, websites may be able to work together to produce and share individ ual user profiles which contain personal details and information on preferences that could be used for marketing, or possibly creating universal user logins which give access to all participating websites. Although there is strong evidence to suggest that personalisation can greatly improve the appeal of a website, restraints would still need to be used when setting the level of customisability as too much can be detrimental to the website by making the experience confusing and feel intrusive (Fung, T. Dec. 2008).Show MoreRelatedMarketing and E-commerce Business65852 Words à |à 264 PagesComplete Listing of Chapter Opening Cases, Insight Cases, E-commerce in Action Cases, and Case Studies CHAPTER 1 THE REVOLUTION IS JUST BEGINNING Opening Case: Pinterest: A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words Insight on Technology: Will Apps Make the Web Irrelevant? The print ad was slapstick and only located on their blob, but blew up Like wild fire. People rewetted their post on Twitter, and before I knew It, every social network I had was buzzing with the news. About the consumers that this advertisement targets. We will write a custom essay sample on Account Supervisor or any similar topic only for you Order Now Determine how the ad is using these perceived assumptions to evoke a consumer response. In my many years of graphic design and advertising experience, I have learned that sometimes less is more. For this particular business they pride themselves on being different, taking different approaches but staying modest at the same time. Being part of their community as much as possible and supporting local fashion shows, new up and coming underground artists, hosting events at their store. This two-brother management team knows how to stay true to their brand by exposing themselves in subtle ways and building long lasting sincere relationships. The one thing all Pittsburgh people have in common is the fact they are all die hard sports fanatics. What better way to bring a community together, than by using the symbolic Pittsburgh area code, in the black and gold color way. James Neal is in the public eye on and off the ice but has become an iconic Pittsburgh Penguin hockey player. The collaboration of the hockey player and Superheroes was no gamble for success. The ad was released last year before the playoffs and every sports fan whether or not they were a dedicated consumer, instantly became interested in the little store named Superheroes. ââ¬Å"Consumers are becoming so savvy that tillers simply canââ¬â¢t settle for anything less than perfection in all aspects of the business. The onus is on companies to give consumers what they want and deserve. Technology and culture have aligned to create a perfect opportunity for consumers to drive a new era in retail, one in which they have the chance to support brands that they believe in. Companies that have heart can rise to the top. â⬠(Winthrop, fascinations. Com) 3. Anyone not a Pittsburgh sports fan and/or from the city of Pittsburgh wouldnââ¬â¢t know the meaning behind the number on the shirt. Consumer groups often include hundreds or thousands of members, often connected via the Internet, that share common concerns about a marketplace. â⬠(http://smellinessââ¬â¢s. Chronic. Evaluate this advertisement and its relationship with cultural values (I. [24][25][26]à His father Ramesh Tendulkar was a reputedà Marathià novelist and his mother Rajni worked in the insurance industry. 27]à Ramesh named Tendulkar after his favourite music director,à Sachin Dev Burman. Tendulkar has three elder siblings: two half-brothers Nitin and Ajit, and a half-sister Savita. They were Rameshs children from his first marriage. [28]à He spent his formative years in theà Sahitya Sahawas Cooperative Housing Society,à Bandra (East), Bombay. As a young boy, Tendulkar was considered a bully, and often picked up fights with new children in his school. [29]à He also showed an interest inà tennis, idolisingà John McEnroe. [30]à To help curb his mischievous and bullying tendencies, Ajit introduced him to cricket in 1984. He introduced the young Sachin toà Ramakant Achrekar, a famous cricket coach of Bombay and a club cricketer of repute, atà Shivaji Park,à Dadar, Bombay. Achrekar was impressed with Tendulkars talent and advised him to shift his schooling to Sharadashram Vidyamandir (English) High School,[1]à a school at Dadar which had a dominant cricket team and had produced many notable cricketers. [31]à Prior to this, Tendulkar had attended the Indian Education Societys New English School in Bandra (East). [31]à He was also coached under the guidance of Achrekar at Shivaji Park in the mornings and evenings. 32]à Tendulkar would practice for hours on end in the nets. If he became exhausted, Achrekar would put a one-rupeeà coin on the top of theà stumps, and the bowler who dismissed Tendulkar would get the coin. If Tendulkar passed the whole session without getting dismissed, the coach would give him the coin. Tendulkar now considers the 13 coins he won then as some of his most pri zed possessions. [33]à He moved in with his aunt and uncle, who lived near Shivaji Park, during this period, due to his hectic schedule. [31] Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Meanwhile at school, he developed a reputation as a child prodigy. He had become a common conversation point in Mumbai cricketing circles, where there were suggestions already that he would become one of the greats. Besides school cricket, he also played club cricket, initially representing John Bright Cricket Club in Bombays premier club cricket tournament, the Kanga League,[31]à and later went on to play for theà Cricket Club of India. [34]In 1987, at the age of 14, he attended theà MRF Pace Foundationà in Madras (nowà Chennai) to train as aà fast bowler, but Australian fast bowlerà Dennis Lillee, who took a world record 355 Test wickets, was unimpressed, suggesting that Tendulkar focus on his batting instead. 35]A couple of months later, former Indian batsmanà Sunil Gavaskarà gave him a pair of his own ultra light pads. It was the greatest source of encouragement for me, Tendulkar said nearly 20 years later after surpassing Gavaskars world record of 34 Test centuries. [36]à His season in 1988 was extraordinary, with Tendulkar scoring a century in every innings he played. He was involved in an unbroken 664-runpartnershipà in a Lord Harris Shield inter-school game against Anjuman-E-Islam High School in 1988 with his friend and team-mateVinod Kambli, who would also go on to represent India. The destructive pair reduced one bowler to tears and made the rest of the opposition unwilling to continue the game. Tendulkar scored 326 (not out) in this innings and scored over a thousand runs in the tournament. [37]à This was a record partnership in any form of cricket until 2006, when it was broken by two under-13 batsmen in a match held atà Hyderabadà in India. On 24 May 1995,[38]à at the age of 22, Tendulkar married Anjali, aà paediatricianà and daughter ofà Gujaratià industrialist Anand Mehta and British social worker Annabel Mehta. Anjali is six years his senior. [39]à They have two children, Sara (born 12 October 1997) and Arjun (born 24 September 1999). Arjun, a left handed batsman, has recently been included in under-14 probables list of Mumbai Cricket Association for off-season training camp. In January 2013 he was selected in mumbai under-14 team for the west zone leagueà [40] Beliefs Tendulkar is known to be a religious person,[41]à and an ardent devotee ofà Sathya Sai Babaà of Puttaparthi. [42][43][44]à He has visited Puttaparthi on several occasions to seek Babas blessings. 42][45]à In 1997, Tendulkar captained the Indian National side, playing against a World Eleven team, in the Unity Cup which was held at the hill view stadium in Puttaparthi, in Babas presence. [46][47]à After Sai Babas death, Tendulkar broke into tears when he saw the body of Baba in Puttaparthi, and cancelled his birthday celebrations. [48][49][50]à The cricketer is also known to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi at home and frequently visits temples during night when it is calm and quiet. [41][51]à The cricketer has also offered his prayers at several otherà Hinduà temples across the country. 52][53] - Early domestic career On 14 November 1987, Tendulkar was selected to representà Bombayà in theà Ranji Trophy, Indias premier domesticà first-class crickettournament, for the 1987ââ¬â88 season. However, he was not selected for the final eleven in any of the matches. [31]à A year later, on 11 December 1988, aged just 15 years and 232 days, Tendulkar made his debut for Bombay againstà Gujaratà at home and scored 100 not out in that match, making him the youngest Indian to score a century on first-class debut. He was handpicked to play for the team by the then Mumbai captainà Dilip Vengsarkarà after watching him easily negotiating Indias best fast bowler at the time,à Kapil Dev, in theWankhede Stadiumà nets,[1]à where theà Indian teamà had come to play against the touringà New Zealand team. He followed this by scoring a century in his first Deodhar and Duleep Trophies, which are also Indian domestic tournaments. [54] Tendulkar finished the 1988ââ¬â89 season as Bombays highest run-scorer. [note 1][55]à He also made an unbeaten century in theà Irani Trophyà match againstà Delhià at the start of the 1989ââ¬â90 season, playing for the Rest of India. 56] In 1992, at the age of 19, Tendulkar became the first overseas-born player to representà Yorkshire, which prior to Tendulkar joining the team, never selected players even from other English counties. [1][note 2]à Selected for Yorkshire as a replacement for the injuredAustralianà fast bowlerà Craig McDer mott, Tendulkar played 16 first-class matches for the county and scored 1070 runs at an average of 46. 52. [57] His first double century was for Mumbai while playing against the visiting Australian team at theà Brabourne Stadiumà in 1998. [1]à He is the only player to score a century in all three of his domestic first-class debuts. 58] - International career Early career Raj Singh Dungarpurà is credited for the selection of Tendulkar for the Indian tour ofà Pakistanà in late 1989,[59]à and that also after just one first class season. [60]à The Indian selection committee had shown interest in selecting Tendulkar for the tour of theà West Indiesà held earlier that year, but eventually did not select him, as they did not want him to be exposed to the dominant fast bowlers of the West Indies so early in his career. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - Book Review
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - Book Review Theres a reason more than 10 million Twilight series books are in print. Twilight, the first in the series, is the addictive story of two teenagers ââ¬â- Bella, a regular girl, and Edward, a perfect gentleman, and a vampire. This is the type of book you might read in just a few sittings, becoming engrossed in its fantastical world and oblivious to your physical surroundings. While not the next great thing in modern literature, its a fun book to get lost in and comes to an end much too quickly. Pros Highly entertaining, fast-paced story of romance and suspenseRelatively clean for a teenage vampire love storyThe concept of good vampires is unusual and intriguing Cons The writing can be clunky at timesEdwards perfection can be over-the-top, even for a fictitious super-humanAt times, Edward and Bellas relationship can seem more like that of a father and daughter Description Twilight by Stephenie Meyer was first published in October 2005.Publisher: Little, Brown512 Pages Twilight by Stephenie Meyer: Book Review Twilight is told by 17-year-old Bella Swan, who moves from Phoenix to the small town of Forks, Washington, to live with her dad for the remainder of high school. There, she meets Edward Cullen and his family, who possess an other-worldly and irresistible beauty and grace to which Bella is drawn. Twilight is the tale of Bella and Edwards burgeoning relationship, brimming with standard teenage drama alongside the unexpected, because, after all, Edward and his family are vampires. These undead friends have chosen to deny their urge to drink human blood, instead slaking their thirst with the blood of animals. Bella soon finds out, however, that not all vampires in her life are constrained by such scruples. The book has been praised for its treatment of sexuality and morality. Although theres plenty of yearning and sensuality, there is no sex, drinking, or drug use. Edward refuses Bellas desire to be turned into a vampire herself, on grounds that it wouldnt be the right thing to do. Twilight is an easy and enjoyable read. Its first-person viewpoint keeps the pages turning. This isnt a masterpiece of literary achievement, however. You have to take it for what it is ââ¬â- a unique and entertaining, if not flawlessly written, story. Twilight will almost certainly appeal to teenage girls and many women of all ages, but probably not to the majority of males. Its sure to make readers eager to devour the next three novels.

Turn Water Into Liquid Gold With an Alchemy Experiment
Turn Water Into Liquid Gold With an Alchemy Experiment Mix two clear solutions, wait, and watch the liquid turn to gold! This is a simple alchemy project or chemistry demonstration, based on early attempts to make gold from base metals. Materials Solution A 1 gram sodium arsenite50 ml water5.5 ml glacial acetic acid Prepare Solution A by stirring the sodium arsenite into the water. Mix the glacial acetic acid into this solution. Solution B 10 grams sodium thiosulfate50 ml water Prepare Solution B by stirring the sodium thiosulfate into the water. Lets Make Liquid Gold! Pour one solution into the other. The clear solution will turn gold after about 30 seconds. For dramatic effect, keep track of the time and command the solution to turn into gold. You can even use a magic word if youd like. The Chemistry Behind How It Works There is a delayed reaction between the acid and the sodium thiosulfate to release hydrogen sulfide gas. The hydrogen sulfide reacts in turn with sodium arsenite to precipitate tiny crystals of golden arsenious sulfide, which is also known as arsenic trisulfide (As2S3) or orpiment. Both Western and Chinese alchemists experimented with orpiment to try to make gold. Although the mineral can be made to appear metallic under certain conditions, the compound does not undergo any reaction that changes either the arsenic or the sulfur into gold. Still, its a striking demonstration!

Warehousing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Warehousing - Essay Example Contemporary warehouse functions are much different that what they used to be. Previous warehousing systems were simply a place to store product until it was needed and in all honesty used a great deal more space than was necessary to allow for easier tracking of products. Many products were shipped in stored in a manual ledger and cross referenced when it was in demand. New technologies have had the ability to significantly reduce the strain on modern warehouse requirements. Ultimately by incorporating one new technology such as a barcode scanner or radio-frequency identification as a stand alone technology would not necessarily have a large impact, but by incorporating many new technologies in conjunction could significantly increase the efficiency of a DS. A very sophisticated contemporary warehousing facility would have products bar-coded upon delivery trucked to a pre set area with a conveyor belt or forklift, and wrought back to the shipping region when it is needed. In an idea l situation a contemporary DS would be able to be cross docked (Offloaded from one truck or the manufacturing line, directly into another thus alleviating the need for warehousing altogether). Ultimately one of the main goals of warehousing is the turning around of product as seamlessly as possible and the incorporation of new technologies helps aide this process. In a contemporary DS scenario technology would help aide workers in directing as much of their energy as possible to turning product around dedicate as much of their time as possible to moving prouduct out the door whereas out dated WMS would have workers dedicating much of their time to filling out reports, tracking products manually, moving inventory manually etc which can be a cumbersome process. The relevance and importance of Value Added Services (VAS) as well as cross docking systems and
